Questions & Answers

Do I need to book an appointment?

We recommend that you do: as we work on a one-to-one basis it will avoid disappointment.

How long before the wedding do I need to order?

Delivery times vary between 3 to 6 months. On top of this we need to allow for alterations.  I would recommend 6 to 9 months as a minimum.  Many designers offer a rush cut but this comes at an extra charge.  If you are short of time it is always worth asking us as we will do our utmost to help.

What should I wear for an alteration appointment?

It’s best to wear pale coloured underwear, and a strapless bra is often a good idea. As a courtesy to other brides who wish to try on the gowns, we would appreciate it if you don’t wear strong perfumes.

When will my dress arrive?

We usually have dresses delivered about 3 months before the wedding so that we have time for alterations.

Is my wedding dress insured?

As members of the British Retail Association we offer free insurance through them, covering your wedding dress up to the value of £1000.  If your wedding dress costs more than £1000 then we suggest you take out a top up policy.

How do I transport my wedding dress?

Your wedding dress will come in a Bridal Gown bag or alternatively you can bring a duvet cover which are excellent for large wedding dresses.  If you are travelling abroad we can offer travel boxes and we will pack your wedding dress for you.

Can I bring my own shoes and accessories?

Of course you can, but at your own risk.  We do have a selection of shoes available, but if you have special requirements it may be wise to bring a pair of shoes of the heel height you intend to wear.

When do I have to pay?

Payment is 50% with the order and 50% when your dress arrives.

When will the fitting take place?

The first fitting is when the dress arrives, then it depends upon how much alteration is required. We usually do the alterations 6 weeks before the wedding as brides tend to lose weight just before the wedding, and this prevents alterations being done twice.

What do I have to bring with me for my final fittings?

It is essential that you wear underwear you intend to use on the day and the heel height of shoes you will be wearing.

How much can a dress be altered?

No more than two sizes are recommended. Alterations are not included in the dress price.

I have a small bust; what styles will suit me?

Look at wedding dresses which have detail over the bust area; this will make your bust look bigger.
Sweetheart necklines draw the eye up and down thereby giving the illusion of a wider chest.
We can also add padding to cups if you want to look larger.

I am getting married abroad in the sun what will work?

Avoid a very heavy dress: it will cause problems in the packing and will be too hot to wear.
Check if the fabrics of the bridal gowns you are looking at crease badly. No amount of careful packing will be able to prevent a very creasy fabric from doing so.
Mikaella wedding dresses and Wtoo bridal gowns are generally ideal for destination weddings, as they tend to be lightweight.

Will you box my wedding dress for me?

Yes, we sell boxes which are suitable as hand luggage and we will box it for you.

You can park in Sainsbury’s for free for 4 hours.
